What are typhlographic boards and maps for the blind?

A typhlographic board / map is a special type of map, created for blind and visually impaired people, which allows for learning about space and orientation in the area by touch. It is made in a convex technique, which allows for reading information by touch. Instead of graphic symbols, elements on the map, such as leading paths, fields of attention, corridors, obstacles, etc. are marked as convex lines, points and various textures. The size and format of the board is adapted to the needs and size of the presented plan of the place.

Typhlographic boards also contain information in Braille. Typhlographic map facilitating access to a marked object, orientation in space and movement for blind and visually impaired people.

The boards and plans are made of high-durability plastic and are weather-resistant. We obtain a certificate of readability from the Polish Association of the Blind for each plan.

  • Mounted on a free-standing leg or on a wall with a special holder.
  • Most often installed in public utility buildings, offices, train stations, parks, cultural, scientific, religious, sports centers, etc.
